An exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to play a key role in driving the South Australian Government’s space strategy as a Director in the South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC). This challenging role will report to the Chief Executive of the South Australian Space Industry Centre and work closely with the Australian Space Agency and other state government organisations to maximise the opportunities for companies in the state’s space sector.
SASIC is a key economic development agency within the South Australian Government which is focussed on the space industry. SASIC is responsible for supporting the growth of the space industry in South Australia. This diverse role will be key in ensuring South Australia maximises the opportunities for space related companies in the state and also attracting interstate and international space companies to South Australia.
The Director, Space is the only full time Director within SASIC who is dedicated to identifying and pursuing economic development opportunities for the state within the space sector. The Director, Space is critical to ensuring effective collaboration occurs across the state and federal governments and various stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the state and industry.
Key Selection Criteria:
Experience working in the space industry which demonstrates:
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant space engineering and trends;
- Detailed knowledge of the national and global developments relating to space technology;
- Proven ability to provide leadership in the development and implementation of business initiatives relating to the space sector;
- An understanding of the skills, infrastructure and policy requirements to support a sustainable space industry in South Australia.

This is a contract / term vacancy up to 36 months. The incumbent is required to enter into an annual performance agreement. Work outside of normal hours will be required as will intrastate, interstate and possible overseas travel involving overnight absences. A current Australian driver’s licence is required.
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field is required.
