The Tonsley Innovation District brings together research, businesses, government and the wider community to connect and collaborate in Australia’s most awarded innovation district.
Located 10 kilometres south of the Adelaide CBD, the precinct has direct rail link access and has been designed to support businesses and organisations located within the innovation district to innovate and grow sustainably.
Tonsley is an outstanding place for global investors to create new products and translate ideas into commercial success. The precinct is focused, specialising in four high-growth sectors where South Australia has a proven capacity:
- health, medical devices and assistive technologies
- cleantech and renewable energy
- automation, software and simulation
- mining and energy services
The Innovation District is also home to Factory of the Future, a purpose built facility for industrial scale testing of new technologies and processes ahead of their use in advanced manufacturing including shipbuilding. A joint initiative of Flinders University and BAE Systems Australia, the facility is a first of its kind in Australia.
Tonsley is part of the inaugural Global Network of Innovation Districts, which brings together the most forward-thinking precincts across the globe to strengthen collaboration and advance innovation. It is one of only four Australian innovation districts – and 23 worldwide – chosen to join the network.
