Defence SA is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Marketing and Events Coordinator to support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of marketing and event initiatives. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders across the defence, space, and government sectors, this role will coordinate high-profile trade show participation, strategic sponsorships, and a variety of targeted events that drive engagement and awareness. Reporting to the Manager Marketing and Events, the successful candidate will contribute to the promotion of South Australia’s defence and space capabilities in alignment with strategic objectives.
Special Conditions:
- Some out-of-hours work will be required.
- A current Class C (Car) Drivers’ Licence is desirable.
- A flexible approach to taking annual leave is required.
- Interstate and international travel may be required for specific events.
- Will be required to participate in the agency’s performance review processes.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver and evaluate a range of events including but not limited to trade exhibitions, sponsored engagements, and business development initiatives, ensuring all activities are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Sound understanding of marketing principles, brand management, and communications including experience developing event collateral, websites, and other promotional materials. Proficient in using digital tools and platforms (such as CMS, ticketing, and project management tools) to support marketing and event delivery.
- Experience working within corporate sponsorship frameworks, with the ability to identify, negotiate, and manage sponsorship opportunities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and delivering outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing event and marketing budgets, working with suppliers, and navigating procurement or contract processes in line with public sector guidelines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a broad range of stakeholders across government, industry, and the community. Skilled in tailoring communication to suit different audiences and maintaining consistency with brand and messaging guidelines.
- Strong team player who contributes positively to team goals and culture. Willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues, while also working independently when required.
- Capacity to work effectively in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments, remaining focused and solution-oriented under pressure.
- Ability to understand and support the organisation’s strategic objectives and reflect these in the planning and execution of marketing and event activities.
