The Australian Government is acquiring four new MC-55A Peregrine intelligence aircraft, to be based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.

Delivered under Project AIR555 Phase 1, the MC‑55A Peregrine introduces an advanced airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW) capability to the Royal Australian Air Force.

By mid 2026, the first three aircraft had arrived at RAAF Base Edinburgh, with the remaining to follow as the capability is brought into service. All four aircraft will be operated by No. 10 Squadron.

Based on a modified Gulfstream G550, the MC‑55A will enable routine and rapid surveillance, delivering critical intelligence to the ADF and strengthening Australia’s ability to monitor and protect its strategic interests

The aircraft is being acquired through the United States Air Force, with L3Harris Technologies as the prime contractor and Sierra Nevada Corporation providing additional support in Australia.
