The Australian Government has acquired four new MC-55A Peregrine intelligence aircraft, which are based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
Delivered under Project AIR555 Phase 1, the MC‑55A Peregrine introduces an advanced airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW) capability to the Royal Australian Air Force.
All four aircraft are based at RAAF Base Edinburgh and are being operated by No. 10 Squadron.
Based on a modified Gulfstream G550, the MC‑55A will enable routine and rapid surveillance, delivering critical intelligence to the ADF and strengthening Australia’s ability to monitor and protect its strategic interests.
The aircraft were acquired through the United States Air Force, with L3Harris Technologies as the prime contractor and Sierra Nevada Corporation providing additional support in Australia.
