Company Overview

The Defence and Security Institute (DSI) provides the primary point of contact for accessing the defence and security research and education capabilities of the University. Located at Lot Fourteen, South Australia’s high-tech hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, the Institute ensures the university’s capabilities are relevant, readily identifiable and accessible.

The DSI stays abreast of the nation’s defence and security research needs, understands and guides the University’s broad defence and security capabilities, informs the development of educational programs for an evolving future workforce, manages and builds defence related partnerships, and works to ensure that administrative processes are appropriate and fit for purpose. The DSI works closely with DST Group, Defence, SA Government, and industry to identify and facilitate long term strategic partnerships and transition research into product and practice. These partnerships help to achieve national security goals and the development of world leading capabilities and industry in South Australia.

The DSI team has expertise across defence, security, business development, commercialisation, legal and security compliance processes. We work closely with teams across the university to ensure the full spectrum of the University’s capabilities, including Quantum Technologies & Photonics, Space, Information Capability, Autonomous Systems, Submarines, and Electromagnetics, are easily accessible to our partners.

We invite you to contact us and make the University of Adelaide your defence and security research partner.
