Carey Training is a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated Registered Training Organisation offering a range of nationally recognised training programs across diverse sectors including Civil Construction, Resources and Infrastructure, Business Services, General Construction, and Safety. Carey Training has operational centres in South Australia and Western Australia.
We work in close consultation with Tier 1 organisations and provide advice, direction and bespoke training programs to assist them meet workforce development targets as specified in large government contracts relating to training and employment outcomes for specific cohorts, and traineeship and apprenticeship outcomes.
Much of our training activity relates directly to employment opportunities presented to jobseekers and existing workers and is designed around the needs of the workplace as well as the community.
Products and Services
Carey Training has a long association delivery training and assessment services to CPB Contractors. CPB Contractors has a long-standing record of delivering effective and innovative defence projects that enhance the capabilities of bases and operations across the Navy, Army and Air Force. Their defence construction capabilities include design and construction, financing, telecommunications and new technology, asset and facilities management, new builds and significant redevelopments. Recent projects range from facility and aircraft infrastructure construction to delivering ground support equipment and high-tech service facilities. CPB Contractors provide training and employment opportunities to diverse groups, including – school-leavers, pre-employment trainees, and Indigenous and disadvantaged groups. In partnership with CPB Contractors, Carey Training has delivered a number of bespoke pre-employment training programs for CPB Contractors relating to the fields of Construction and Civil Construction, particularly assisting CPB Contractors with meeting their workforce development targets relating to Indigenous employment.
In addition to CPB Contractors, Carey Training currently also deliver training services to Fulton Hogan. Fulton Hogan has been delivering, managing and maintaining key infrastructure assets and estates for the Defence Forces in New Zealand and Australia for many years. Their services include the provision of surfacing treatments and major civil works, construction, management and maintenance of Defence facilities in urban, regional, remote and offshore locations. With specialist airfield capabilities, Fulton Hogan has recently completed major works for the Australian Department of Defence at RAAF Bases Darwin, Tindal, Curtin and Woomera – while also maintaining infrastructure at Defence Airfield sites across Australia under their multi-year pavement maintenance contract.
As a 100% Indigenous owned Registered Training Organisation, and as we have undertaken specifically for CPB Contractors and Fulton Hogan, Carey Training are able to deliver nationally accredited training in Civil Construction, ranging from RII20720 Certificate II in Civil Construction, RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction, RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations, and RII40720 Certificate IV in Civil Construction. We can provide specialised training in civil construction for future RAAF plant operators and tradespeople. This training covers a wide range of practical and theoretical aspects, including general and high-risk safety and environmental considerations, and practical plant training. These construction skills enable the civil applications of the trade where plant equipment is used in constructing roads, housing pads, tank ditches, machine slots and trenches. Specific defence civil infrastructure training includes road works, general civil works, training grounds, supply route maintenance, drainage infrastructure, and building works.
Carey Training are also able to deliver apprenticeships in MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade. These apprenticeships are aligned to the role of Metalsmith who operate manual metal arc welding machines (MMAW), metal inert gas (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), oxygen-acetylene welding and cutting equipment. This training also relates to any Boilermaker and Shipbuilding positions within the Defence sector.
Carey Training works closely with a wide range of private and government jobseeker service providers delivering assistance to Indigenous and Non-Indigenous jobseekers. This allows us access to quality clients for participation in our training programs and for transitioning into employment opportunities with our key employer partners.
