Company Overview

INMAA Advisory is a South Australian research-led advisory practice specialising in advancing the practice of complex project governance and in building the capability of those who lead them. We help organisations operating in high-stakes, complex delivery environments strengthen project governance, build delivery assurance, and uplift their workforce’s capability.

INMAA’s founding capability draws on years of training design, review, and delivery across many sectors, including defence. INMAA’s advisory service works through its Integrated Advisory Framework — a connected model that brings together complexity framing, capability, governance, measurement, and decision-making within a single approach to the governance of complex projects.

Products and Services

Advisory: INMAA provides governance and delivery assurance for complex projects and programs, including governance reviews and their integration into board and assurance mechanisms, alongside complexity-informed advisory for boards, project offices, and delivery teams.

Training and capability building. INMAA designs, reviews, and delivers P3GQA-accredited programs, global project management certification programs, and project management fundamentals, as well as tailored, in-house programs built around an organisation’s specific delivery environment.

Research. INMAA brings research-led insight drawn from active PhD work into the governance of complex projects, applying current evidence and academic practice to live program governance and assurance challenges.

Other Projects

Prior to establishing INMAA, John was actively involved in the design and implementation of multiple capability-building projects in project management with one of Australia’s leading defence sub-contractors. This work carried a high level of complexity, shaped by its global context and the need to tailor its parameters to local requirements and expectations while addressing current challenges in the field. The project remains active, with INMAA now taking the leading role in meeting its emerging needs.
A second significant body of work involves an innovative approach to governing complex projects, developed through PhD research at the University of Adelaide with a focus on defence and other major industries. Part of this research investigates governance gaps in the delivery of defence projects and how those gaps can be surfaced and addressed earlier, translating academic insight into practical approaches that strengthen governance and assurance in live, complex delivery environments.
