Lot Fourteen is a world-class innovation district in the heart of Adelaide.
The seven-hectare site brings together a connected ecosystem of global tech firms, defence primes, SMEs, startups and leading research institutes working across defence, space, cyber and critical technologies sectors.
It provides a collaborative environment for research and development, commercialisation, skills development and business growth, strengthening connections between South Australia’s defence industry and its broader innovation ecosystem.
Lot Fourteen is home to a growing community of defence companies and organisations contributing technologies and capabilities that support Australia’s defence needs.
The district has particular strengths in information warfare, research and innovation with capabilities aligned to key AUKUS advanced capability areas including quantum technologies, artificial intelligence and autonomy, electronic warfare and advanced cyber.
Lot Fourteen is entering a new phase of development with construction underway on Defence HQ.
Defence HQ will be an 11-storey innovation centre that will become a focal point for defence, space and critical technologies and support Australia’s AUKUS endeavours.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, it will provide a platform to accelerate defence innovation, research commercialisation and industry collaboration.
Defence HQ will be home to:
- BAE Systems Australia national headquarters
- the $60 million Australian Defence Technologies Academy
- the $24.5 million Innovation Hub
- the $20 million SpaceBase – Australian Space Common User Facility
The precinct’s broader innovation ecosystem includes the:
- Australian Space Discovery Centre and Australian Space Agency headquarters
- Australian Institute for Machine Learning
- Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre
- Defence and Space Landing Pad
Once Defence HQ is complete, Lot Fourteen’s workforce is expected to double to more than 3,000 people.
