Australian naval equipment manufacturer, Marenav, is the latest company to join a growing network of defence talent at Lot Fourteen’s innovation district, adding important capability to the state’s naval shipbuilding ecosystem.

The NSW-based firm is establishing a new office at the Defence and Space Landing Pad, a one-stop-shop that supports the expansion of interstate and international companies into South Australia.

Marenav brings expertise in providing end-to-end, whole-of-ship cooling technology to the state, as designers and manufacturers of Australian-made technology that is crucial for safeguarding naval combat systems and equipment on ships.

As a key supplier of heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment, radar, and propulsion cooling systems, Marenav has the potential to contribute to naval programs, such as combat system upgrades to the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers at South Australia’s Osborne Naval Shipyard.

The company is actively expanding its Australian supply chain, boosting opportunities for local companies to secure manufacturing work on Marenav’s upcoming naval projects.

Marenav joins a host of innovative defence and space companies that have leveraged the Landing Pad as a launch point for their expansion into the state, including Global IT and business consulting services firm, CGI, and European defence company, MBDA.

The Defence and Space Landing Pad supports international and interstate companies to establish a long-term presence in South Australia, by providing short-term accommodation leases, along with government and industry connections.

Quotes attributable to Marenav Director of Operations, Adam Smith

As a supplier of naval and commercial marine mechanical systems and equipment, it is important we are well-integrated into South Australia’s shipbuilding ecosystem to develop our range of products with established partners.

Being based at the Defence and Space Landing Pad, provides valuable support and connections, as we seek to gain a deeper understanding of the South Australian business environment and collaborate with Defence partners to deliver capability to the Royal Australian Navy.

There are highly capable South Australian companies who we can collectively band together with, to deliver a step change in capability and Australian manufacturing.
