APC Technology partners with UK company to deliver digital wellbeing solutions
4 November 2025
South Australian company APC Technology has joined forces with UK media organisation and military charity BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) to deliver broadcast, media and welfare technology solutions to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and others working in remote environments.
The collaboration will see BFBS’s MiPlayer and MiPlayer Edge systems – secure, offline-ready content delivery platforms for entertainment, training and wellbeing content – deployed in disconnected environments, such as ships at sea, deployed bases and isolated industrial and mining sites throughout Australasia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The system provides access to content including television and video on demand, radio and podcasts, sport, music, news and wellbeing resources.
Announced at IndoPac 2025, the partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). APC Technology Managing Director Craig Williams said the collaboration leverages the company’s expertise in delivering rugged technology designed to thrive in the toughest conditions.
“We are proud to work alongside BFBS to deliver technology that enhances wellbeing and connectedness across Defence and mining communities,” Mr Williams said. “This collaboration strengthens Australia’s sovereign capability in digital welfare and supports the wellbeing priorities of our national workforce strategies.”
The MiPlayer system has already proven its value with the UK Ministry of Defence and allied forces. Now, it is being adapted to meet the unique challenges of Australia’s ADF and mining sectors, where connectivity, morale and mental health are critical to performance and safety.
BFBS Director of Development and Strategy Nick Beers said the partnership marks an important step in expanding BFBS’s ambitions to deliver innovative media solutions.
“I am delighted to have signed this agreement between APC Technology and BFBS to further our ambitions to deliver our innovative media and welfare technology and services to the Australian and wider IndoPac armed forces,” Mr Beers said.
“From my initial meeting with the APC Technology team in London and our subsequent discussions at DSEI I have gained complete confidence in their ability, experience and commitment to deliver what we need as a partner.”
The partnership directly supports national strategies including the Defence Digital Strategy Roadmap 2024, the Defence and Veteran Family Wellbeing Strategy 2025–2030, and leading mining initiatives such as the MARS Program and Resource Minds.
