South Australian company AEROBOND GROUP has officially opened its expanded defence facility in Woodville, marking a major step forward in Australia’s maritime production and maintenance capability.

The 3,500m² facility has been purpose-built to meet the stringent technical and security requirements of the defence sector. The facility supports the manufacture, repair and maintenance of critical systems for current and future maritime platforms.

AEROBOND Managing Director Justin Struik said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening sovereign capability.

“Our team brings specialised skills and deep experience in high performance composite structures, precision engineering, and defence sustainment. We are proud to play our part in supporting the Royal Australian Navy and Australia’s strategic maritime capabilities,” Mr Struik said.

The Woodville facility has capacity to support:

• advanced composite component manufacture
• submarine component repair, overhaul and refurbishment
• certified maintenance and sustainment support services
• rapid prototyping and production scaling for defence programs
• secure supply chain integration with Defence Primes and Commonwealth stakeholders
• design, manufacture, installation and repair capability.

The site features state-of-the-art clean room facilities, including a composite room, dual paint and grinding booths and controlled environments for filtration, temperature, humidity and vacuum – all tailored to meet strict defence standards.

This investment strengthens Australia’s sovereign defence capability by enabling critical maritime systems to be built and maintained locally, while also creating jobs and developing specialist skills in South Australia’s defence industry.

With operations now underway, AEROBOND is actively engaging with defence primes, industry partners and Commonwealth agencies, positioning itself as a key contributor to Australia’s future maritime capability.
