Aurizn and Hanwha Defence Australia reach program milestone

Aurizn has achieved a significant milestone with the delivery of a secure communications capability for Hanwha Defence Australia, supporting the Commonwealth’s LAND 8116 Phase 1 program for the Huntsman family of vehicles.

Working closely with Hanwha Defence Australia, Aurizn developed and integrated a secure communications system designed to protect sensitive information as it moves between different onboard networks. The system ensures that operational information can be shared without compromising security.

The system was engineered and tested inside Aurizn’s ITAR‑Controlled Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) in South Australia. Representatives from Hanwha Defence Australia took part in acceptance testing, confirming the system’s performance ahead of its phased rollout across Huntsman vehicle platforms.

Aurizn CEO Rebecca Humble said the achievement highlights the capability of Australia’s homegrown defence industry.

“Modern defence capability relies on secure, resilient digital connectivity,” she said. “This milestone reflects the strength of Australia’s sovereign engineering expertise and the trust placed in local industry to support the Australian Army’s future force.”

The work drew on Aurizn’s established strengths in advanced software development, systems engineering and architecture, hardware-software integration and verification within controlled environments and disciplined program delivery and risk management.

LAND 8116 Phase 1 will deliver the Australian Army’s AS9 Huntsman self-propelled howitzers and AS10 armoured ammunition resupply vehicles – platforms that will enhance protected mobile fires capability and strengthen Australia’s evolving defence posture.

Aurizn will continue to collaborate with Hanwha Defence Australia to support ongoing integration and sustainment activities across the program.
