New Landing Pad to support local companies expand footprint in UK
3 September 2025
South Australian defence and space companies now have a dedicated base in the heart of London, with the South Australian Government establishing a new Defence and Space Landing Pad for businesses looking to expand in the UK.
Local companies will have access to offices and a boardroom through the Landing Pad, helping them strengthen relationships with industry partners and launch into the UK market.
The Landing Pad is of the state government’s broader strategy to help South Australian industry connect with global supply chains and capitalise on opportunities created through the AUKUS partnership.
Support will also be available on the ground, with the Office of the Agent General and Defence SA’s Defence Industry Director – UK working alongside companies to provide advice and guidance as they expand their presence in the UK.
The initiative builds on the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen industry links abroad, including leading delegations to the UK and facilitating engagement with key defence and government stakeholders.
At least five South Australian defence and space enterprises have already established a foothold in the UK, with the new London hub expected to encourage more companies to follow.
Defence and Space Industries Minister Stephen Mullighan said the facility would ease the practical hurdles for companies seeking to establish a presence in the UK.
“The UK Defence and Space Landing Pad will alleviate the stress involved in securing office space in central London for South Australian companies looking to establish a base and secure business opportunities,” Minister Millighan said.
“This is another example of how the State Government is helping the South Australian defence industry maximise the benefits of AUKUS and enter global supply chains.”
