P-8A deeper maintenance takes off in South Australia
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) has commenced deeper maintenance work on the first of Australia’s fleet of 12 P8-A Poseidon aircraft at RAAF Base Edinburgh. In an Australian-first, major maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on the aircraft is being undertaken locally, rather than offshore, following three-months of modifications at the hangar on the Base to accommodate the program of works. BDA secured the $60 million deep maintenance contract for the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of P8-A Poseidon aircraft in September 2021.
